Just weeks into his loan spell at Trabzonspor, Andre Onana has already made a strong impression—and the Turkish club wants to keep him beyond the current season. According to reports, Trabzonspor have informed Onana’s representatives that they’re keen to negotiate a permanent deal, despite no buy clause in the original agreement.
🧤 Onana’s Redemption Arc
After a turbulent stint at Manchester United, where he was dropped in favor of Altay Bayındır and later replaced by Senne Lammens, Onana needed a fresh start. His move to Trabzonspor was unexpected, but it’s proving fruitful.
In four appearances, Onana has kept one clean sheet and conceded five goals. While the stats aren’t eye-popping, his leadership and composure have impressed the coaching staff.
“He’s adapted quickly and become a dressing room leader,” a club source told Turkish outlet 61Saat.
💰 Financial Hurdles Ahead
Trabzonspor’s interest is genuine, but the financial reality is complex. Onana’s United deal was worth up to £47 million, and the Turkish side’s transfer record is under €7 million. Any permanent move would require a renegotiated fee, likely far below United’s original valuation.
Still, Onana’s form could drive up his market value, potentially pricing Trabzonspor out if other clubs enter the fray.
🔄 United’s Goalkeeping Shuffle
Back in Manchester, Lammens has taken over as United’s No. 1, with Bayındır relegated to backup. Amorim is reportedly happy with the new setup, and Onana’s chapter at Old Trafford appears closed.
United are also linked with Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen, suggesting they’re planning for life beyond Onana.
🏁 What’s Next?
Onana will continue as Trabzonspor’s starter, and talks over a permanent deal may begin in January. For now, the Cameroonian is focused on rebuilding his reputation—and he’s doing just that.
