Erling Haaland continued his blistering form with a ninth-minute goal to seal Manchester City’s 1–0 win over Brentford. The Norwegian bulldozed past defenders and slotted home his 18th goal of the season across all competitions.
“It reminded me of Stoke,” Haaland joked. “Big guys, long throws—it was tough.”
City dominated the first half but lost Rodri to a hamstring injury, raising concerns ahead of the international break. Pep Guardiola praised the team’s resilience as they climbed to fifth in the table.
“We had to fight for it. Brentford made it hard,” Guardiola said.
Rodri’s injury will be assessed, and City will hope to have him back for their clash with Everton on October 18.
