Pickford Keen to Build Legacy at Everton After Agreeing Four-Year Deal

Everton and England No. 1 Jordan Pickford has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at Goodison Park until June 2029, extending his stay on Merseyside to a remarkable 12 years. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who joined from Sunderland in 2017 for a then-British record fee for a goalkeeper, has become a cornerstone of the club’s identity and now has his sights set on building a lasting legacy.

“I’m over the moon,” Pickford told Everton TV. “It gives me the opportunity to build a legacy for myself here, move forward, and build this club to where we want to be”.

๐Ÿงค A Loyal Servant

Since arriving at Everton, Pickford has made 326 appearances in all competitions and recently celebrated his 300th Premier League appearance in a 2–1 win over Crystal Palace. He has also won Everton’s Player of the Year award a record four times, underlining his consistency and importance to the team.

His new contract adds two years to his previous deal, which was set to expire in 2027. The extension reflects both the club’s faith in him and his commitment to Everton’s long-term vision.

๐ŸŸ️ Building for the Future

Pickford’s decision to stay comes at a pivotal time for the club. With the move to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium on the horizon and new ownership aiming to restore Everton’s status as a European contender, the England international’s leadership will be crucial.

“Everton is a really special club to me,” Pickford said. “Coming from Sunderland as a young lad and growing into a man here, it’s been a special time for me and my family”.

He added that the club’s passionate fanbase and the sense of belonging have made Everton feel like home.

๐Ÿ† Eyes on Silverware

Pickford has been vocal about his ambitions to help Everton return to European competition and end their long wait for a major trophy. The Toffees haven’t lifted silverware since their 1995 FA Cup triumph, and Pickford wants to change that.

“We want to get back to competing in Europe. That’s the goal. That’s the legacy I want to leave,” he said.

With teammates like James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite also signing new deals, there’s a renewed sense of stability and optimism at the club.

๐Ÿด‍☠️ England’s Safe Hands

Pickford’s form at club level has translated to international success. He has earned 80 caps for England, all while at Everton, and recently set a national record with nine consecutive clean sheets for the Three Lions.

His performances at the 2018 and 2020 tournaments, as well as the 2022 World Cup, have cemented his place as one of England’s most reliable goalkeepers.

๐Ÿ”ต A Fan Favorite

Pickford’s passion, shot-stopping ability, and vocal presence have made him a fan favorite at Goodison Park. His emotional connection with the supporters was evident during the club’s recent relegation battles, where he delivered crucial saves to keep Everton afloat.

“It’s always felt like a natural fit for me, with the fans and the passion—it’s second to none and something I thrive off,” he said.

As Everton look to the future, Pickford’s presence between the posts offers both security and inspiration.
