Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou responds to "sacked" chants from own fans in FC Midtjylland defeat
Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou has responded candidly to chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” from his own supporters following the club’s 3–2 home defeat to FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.
🔥 Tensions Rise at the City Ground
The loss marked Forest’s sixth winless match under Postecoglou, who took over from Nuno EspÃrito Santo earlier this season. Fans, already frustrated by the team’s poor form, voiced their discontent loudly during the match, especially after Midtjylland took a 2–1 lead within the first 24 minutes and sealed the win with an 88th-minute goal.
Postecoglou acknowledged the chants in his post-match interview with TNT Sports:
“I heard it. They’re fans, they want to see their team win, and they’re entitled to their opinion. Nothing surprises me in football any more”.
🗣️ Manager’s Reflection
Rather than dwell on the criticism, Postecoglou focused on the team’s performance, expressing disappointment in how Forest handled key moments:
“Just really, really poor goals we conceded in the first half… In those moments we have not shown the same desire and determination as the opposition”.
Despite the pressure, he remained composed, emphasizing that the issues were not tactical but psychological—pointing to lapses in focus and intensity.
📉 What’s Next for Forest?
Forest sit 25th in the Europa League’s League Phase table and face a tough trip to Newcastle United before hosting Porto on October 23. With mounting pressure and fan unrest, Postecoglou’s tenure is under scrutiny, and the next few fixtures could be pivotal.
