Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has vowed to correct the errors that led to his side’s humbling 4–1 defeat at Sevilla, insisting the team will “fight for every title” despite back-to-back losses that have exposed tactical and psychological vulnerabilities.
The defeat at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán marked Barça’s first LaLiga loss of the season and came just days after a 2–1 Champions League setback against PSG. Flick’s men now trail Real Madrid by two points and face mounting scrutiny over their defensive structure and midfield cohesion.
“We have to accept this defeat and look at the positive side,” Flick said post-match. “In the first half we made a lot of mistakes, but in the second half we were able to react. That’s what I want to build on.”
Despite conceding four goals, Flick praised the team’s second-half intensity and welcomed the upcoming international break as a chance to reset. He also defended his tactical system, rejecting criticism from pundits like Thierry Henry, who called Barça “too open.”
“It’s not the system. It’s the execution. We need players at their top level,” Flick added.
Barcelona return to action against Girona on October 18, and Flick is expected to make changes, especially with injuries to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha complicating squad selection.
