Brentford head coach Andrews hopes to end Grimsby's giant-killing run in Carabao Cup

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews is determined to halt Grimsby Town’s fairytale run in the Carabao Cup as the two sides face off in the fourth round at Blundell Park on Tuesday night.

Grimsby, currently sixth in League Two, has stunned higher-tier opponents in this season’s competition—most notably Manchester United in a dramatic penalty shootout and Sheffield Wednesday in the third round. Their giant-killing exploits have made them the lowest-ranked team left in the tournament.

But Andrews, fresh off a morale-boosting 3–2 win over Liverpool, is taking nothing for granted:

“We have to be very respectful of them,” he said. “They’ve achieved a lot this season and are a very well-coached team. But we’ll be ready”.

🔄 Squad Rotation Expected

Andrews hinted at changes, noting the impact of his bench in recent matches:

“The bench has made a huge impact in recent weeks—goals from it, courage, personality and experience—so they need to be rewarded and the squad will be utilized”.

Brentford have already knocked out Bournemouth and Aston Villa, and a win over Grimsby would send them into the quarter-finals for the first time since 2020.

⚔️ Grimsby’s Threat

Despite a recent dip in league form—two defeats in their last three—Grimsby remain dangerous. Manager David Artell has instilled a high-tempo, possession-based style that has troubled bigger sides. Their home crowd at Blundell Park will be fired up for another upset.
