Slot Explains Brutal Kerkez Substitution After Dive vs Burnley

Liverpool manager Arne Slot made headlines after hooking Milos Kerkez in the 38th minute of their 1-0 win over Burnley. The Hungarian left-back was booked for simulation in the 22nd minute, and Slot feared a second yellow could cost Liverpool the match.

“With Milos, I can never be 100% sure he won’t make the next foul. The only way we could lose today was going down to 10 men,” Slot told BBC Sport.

Andy Robertson replaced Kerkez and helped stabilize the defense, while Mohamed Salah converted a stoppage-time penalty to seal the win.

Kerkez is still expected to start against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, but Slot’s comments suggest his trust in the player is wavering.
