West Ham United have officially parted ways with head coach Graham Potter, ending his tenure just nine months after his appointment. The decision follows a string of poor results that left the Hammers languishing in 19th place in the Premier League, with only three points from five matches.
๐ What Went Wrong?
Potter won just 6 of 25 matches in charge, with only 3 victories in his last 16.
The team suffered heavy defeats to Sunderland, Chelsea, Tottenham, and most recently Crystal Palace, which proved the final straw.
Despite a full pre-season and significant summer investment, West Ham failed to show progress, ranking near the bottom for pressing intensity and attacking transitions.
๐งน Backroom Clear-Out
Alongside Potter, the club also dismissed:
Assistant coach Bruno Saltor
First team coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach
Goalkeeper coaches Casper Ankergren and Linus Kandolin
๐ Who’s Next?
Former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo is tipped to take over, with reports suggesting he could be in charge for West Ham’s upcoming clash against Everton
๐ฃ️ Club Statement
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations… a change is necessary to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League.”
