Isak ‘Grateful’ to Newcastle as Bitter Saga Ends

Alexander Isak’s tumultuous summer saga with Newcastle United has concluded with his £125 million move to Liverpool, setting a British transfer record. The 25-year-old Swedish striker, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022, expressed gratitude to the club and its fans in an Instagram post on September 2, 2025, saying, “I want to express my gratitude to my teammates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together.”

Isak’s departure followed a bitter standoff, including his refusal to train or play during preseason, as he pushed for a move after claiming “promises were broken” by Newcastle. Despite a frosty 37-word statement from the club confirming his exit, Isak highlighted his role in their Carabao Cup triumph and Champions League qualification. He now joins Liverpool’s star-studded squad, donning the No. 9 shirt, with a potential debut against Burnley on September 14
