Grimsby Sign Burnley Goalkeeper Charlie Casper

Grimsby Town Bolster Squad with Burnley’s Charlie Casper on LoanGrimsby Town have made a last-minute addition to their squad, securing the services of 20-year-old Burnley goalkeeper Charlie Casper on a season-long loan deal.
The signing, announced just after the summer transfer deadline, sees the promising shot-stopper step up to the EFL with the League Two side, likely serving as backup to first-choice keeper Christy Pym. Casper, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Burnley, brings experience from loan spells at non-league clubs FC United of Manchester and Bamber Bridge.
Standing at 6’3”, Casper is a product of Burnley’s academy, where he earned the Academy Player of the Season award in 2023. As the grandson of Burnley legend Frank Casper and son of former Manchester United defender Chris Casper, he carries a strong footballing pedigree.
Grimsby head coach David Artell praised the signing, stating, “Charlie has terrific potential, and we want to help him develop his skills.” The move could pave the way for Grimsby’s Seb Auton to seek senior experience elsewhere on loan. Casper’s arrival strengthens the Mariners’ goalkeeping options as they aim to build on their recent Carabao Cup heroics.
