Chelsea narrowly escaped a Carabao Cup upset against League One side Lincoln City, coming from behind to win 2–1 thanks to second-half heroics from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte. But the victory was overshadowed by a calamitous performance from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Lincoln took a deserved lead in the 42nd minute after Enzo Fernández’s casual pass across the box was intercepted by Rob Street. Chelsea looked shell-shocked at halftime, with Jorgensen flapping at crosses and nearly colliding with his own defenders.
Enter Tyrique George. The teenager unleashed a thunderous strike from the edge of the box just three minutes into the second half. Moments later, he assisted Buonanotte, who danced past defenders to slot home the winner.
Despite the comeback, Chelsea’s defensive frailties were exposed. Jorgensen’s performance—rated 3/10 by multiple outlets—raises serious questions about depth behind Robert Sánchez.
