Alonso Has 'New Ideas' for Tchouameni in New Real Madrid Role

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is preparing to deploy Aurélien Tchouameni in a revolutionary new role, according to reports from the Spanish capital. The French international, traditionally utilized as a defensive midfielder, is being reimagined as a hybrid defender/midfielder in Alonso's tactical evolution at the Bernabéu.

Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti in June, has been impressed with Tchouameni's tactical intelligence and physical attributes during preseason. The manager believes the 27-year-old possesses the perfect skill set to execute his vision of positional fluidity between defense and midfield.

"Tchouameni has all the qualities to become one of the most complete players in world football," Alonso told reporters after Wednesday's training session. "His understanding of space, his technical ability, and his physical presence allow us to explore new tactical dimensions. We've been working on some interesting concepts that you'll see soon."

The new approach would see Tchouameni starting games in central defense before transitioning into midfield during attacking phases, similar to how John Stones was utilized under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. This tactical innovation aims to create numerical advantages in build-up play while maintaining defensive solidity.
