Villarreal Target Paris Saint-Germain Goalkeeper Arnau Tenas for La Liga Return

Villarreal are actively pursuing a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Arnau Tenas, aiming to bring the 24-year-old Spaniard back to La Liga, according to reports from Marca and other sources.
The Yellow Submarine, under manager Marcelino, has identified Tenas as their top target to bolster their goalkeeping department before the summer transfer window closes. With Tenas entering the final year of his PSG contract and struggling for game time, Villarreal sees an opportunity to secure the talented shot-stopper on a cut-price deal or potentially a loan with an option to buy.
Tenas, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, joined PSG in 2023 as a free agent after his contract with the Catalan club expired. Despite his promise, the Vic-born goalkeeper has been unable to displace Gianluigi Donnarumma, Matvei Safonov, and Lucas Chevalier in PSG’s pecking order, making just six appearances since his arrival. His standout moment came at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he started for Spain’s U23 side, earning a gold medal and an assist in the final against France with a long throw that led to Sergio Camello’s decisive goal. However, a high-profile error in the same match, misjudging a shot from Enzo Millot, drew attention.
Villarreal’s interest comes as part of a busy transfer window, with the club already securing signings like Thomas Partey, Alberto Moleiro, and Renato Veiga. Marcelino is reportedly seeking a young, ambitious goalkeeper to compete with current options Luiz Júnior and Diego Conde, with the latter potentially moving on if Tenas arrives.
Tenas’ ball-playing ability, reflexes, and experience at the the youth international level make him an ideal fit for Villarreal’s progressive style. His market value, estimated at €4 million by Transfermarkt, and his contract situation make a deal feasible, with negotiations already underway between Villarreal and PSG.
A return to Spain could be a turning point for Tenas, who has yet to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at club level. With Villarreal competing in La Liga and the Europa League, the move offers a chance to secure regular minutes and reignite his career.
As the transfer window nears its end, fans will be eager to see if the Yellow Submarine can finalize this ambitious signing.Sources: Marca, Football España, Transfermarkt, PSG Inside-Actus
