Slot Hints Liverpool May Not Need Isak Despite Transfer Buzz

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has downplayed speculation linking the club with a blockbuster move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, suggesting the Reds may already have the depth they need.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle, Slot said, “I’m very, very happy about the squad we have. I’ve always said that having two for each position is ideal, but I prefer less than more because then you have to disappoint so many players every time.”

The comments come amid reports that Liverpool’s £110M bid for Isak was rejected earlier this month. While the Sweden international remains keen on a move to Anfield, Slot’s remarks suggest the club may not push for another offer unless conditions are perfect.

Slot emphasized that Liverpool will only act if a player is available who can “really make us better” and fits the club’s long-term plan. With Hugo Ekitike already signed and Champions League football returning, the Reds may opt to trust their current attacking core.

Still, with injuries to Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley and the departure of Darwin Núñez, Liverpool’s depth will be tested. Whether Slot’s faith in his squad holds firm could define the final days of the transfer window.
