Ruiz Saves the Day as Dembélé Misses Penalty in PSG’s Narrow Win Over Angers

Paris Saint-Germain edged past Angers 1–0 in a tense Ligue 1 clash at Parc des Princes, with Fabián Ruiz emerging as the match-winner after Ousmane Dembélé squandered a golden opportunity from the spot.

PSG dominated possession but struggled to convert chances early on. The turning point came in the 25th minute when João Neves was fouled inside the box, earning PSG a penalty. Dembélé, last season’s 35-goal sensation, stepped up but blasted his shot over the bar—a miss that could have haunted the Parisians.

Fortunately, Ruiz delivered five minutes into the second half. After a blocked pass from Desire Doue ricocheted kindly, the Spanish midfielder drilled a low shot into the corner, securing PSG’s second win of the season.

Manager Luis Enrique defended Dembélé post-match, calling the miss “normal” and praising the team’s physical and technical performance despite a poor pitch and deep defensive block.

With back-to-back 1–0 wins and a recent Super Cup triumph, PSG’s campaign is off to a resilient start—even if not yet firing on all cylinders.
