Arsenal legend Paul Merson has boldly claimed that Eberechi Eze could be the missing piece in Arsenal’s quest to reclaim the Premier League crown. Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson described the £67.5 million signing from Crystal Palace as a “game-changer” and “perfect fit” for Mikel Arteta’s system.
Eze, 27, is expected to complete his medical on Friday after Arsenal hijacked Tottenham’s move for the England international. The Gunners will pay £60 million upfront with £7.5 million in add-ons.
“Eze has the X-factor,” Merson said. “He’s the kind of player who can unlock low blocks when teams park the bus at the Emirates. Arsenal struggled with that last season. With Eze, they win the league.”
The attacking midfielder contributed 25 goals in all competitions last season and is seen as a dynamic force capable of relieving pressure from Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka.
After three consecutive second-place finishes, Arsenal fans are hoping Eze’s arrival finally tips the balance in their favor.
