Newcomers Star as Chelsea Thrash Sorry West Ham

Chelsea delivered a statement performance at the London Stadium, crushing West Ham 5–1 with goals from five different players—João Pedro, Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernández, Moisés Caicedo, and Trevoh Chalobah.

Despite the absence of Cole Palmer, who was ruled out during warmup, Enzo Maresca’s side looked sharp and ruthless. Brazilian teenager Estêvão, making his first Premier League start, assisted Fernández’s goal and helped turn the tide after Lucas Paquetá’s early stunner for the Hammers.

West Ham’s defensive frailties were exposed repeatedly, especially on set pieces, with three of Chelsea’s goals coming from corners. The result lifts Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table for the first time since December 2021.
