Guardiola Admits Uncertainty Over Man City Squad Ahead of Transfer Deadline

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted he’s in the dark about the future of several players as the summer transfer window nears its close.

Speaking ahead of City’s clash with Tottenham, Guardiola said, “To be honest, I don't know what is happening with a few players—I don't know who is coming, who is staying, or who is leaving. I don't know.”

The uncertainty surrounds key names like winger Savinho, defender Manuel Akanji, and goalkeeper Ederson. All three have been linked with moves away from the Etihad, with Tottenham reportedly preparing an €80 million bid for Savinho and Galatasaray showing interest in Ederson.

Guardiola emphasized that agents, clubs, and players all play a role in shaping transfer outcomes. “The agents make the roles, the club have their opinions, the players have theirs, and after that we see what happens,” he said.

Despite the speculation, Guardiola expressed hope that Savinho would remain at City long-term, calling him “an extraordinary player” with huge potential. However, he acknowledged that the final decision rests with the players and the negotiations between clubs.

With the transfer window closing on September 1, City fans may be in for a tense final week as the squad could see more changes.
