Nottingham Forest have officially announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus, marking one of the club’s most high-profile moves of the summer window.
Luiz joins on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy for £25 million, which is expected to be triggered easily. The 27-year-old returns to the Premier League after a brief stint in Serie A, having previously made over 200 appearances for Aston Villa
Forest manager Nuno EspĂrito Santo has been busy reshaping his squad for their Europa League campaign, with Luiz becoming the seventh signing of the window and the fourth in just one week. The club has already added Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee, and Arnaud Kalimuendo to its ranks, signaling serious intent ahead of the new season.
Luiz brings Champions League experience and a proven Premier League pedigree. Known for his versatility as both a deep-lying playmaker and a box-to-box engine, he scored 22 goals and provided 24 assists during his time at Villa.
“I am really happy to be here,” Luiz said. “It’s a big club, and I can see the ambition. I’m excited to give my best for the shirt and the fans.”
Forest’s Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson added, “Douglas brings significant quality to the group. He’s played at the highest level and understands the demands of the Premier League.”
With Luiz now in red, Forest’s midfield looks ready to compete on both domestic and European fronts.
