Despite swirling speculation, Chelsea have made it clear: Gianluigi Donnarumma is not on their radar this summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Blues are not in active talks to sign the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, despite earlier reports linking the Italian international to Stamford Bridge. Romano posted:
“Chelsea are not in active talks to sign Gigio Donnarumma despite links. He’s not a target as Chelsea are happy with their goalkeepers.”
This statement puts an end to rumors that Chelsea were preparing a bid for Donnarumma, who has reportedly fallen out with PSG and is open to a Premier League move. With Robert Sánchez, Filip Jørgensen, and Gabriel Slonina already in the squad, Chelsea appear content with their current goalkeeping options.
Meanwhile, Manchester United remain interested in Donnarumma, especially with uncertainty surrounding André Onana. United now have a clearer path to pursue the 26-year-old, who is reportedly eager to leave PSG following his exclusion from the UEFA Super Cup squad.
Chelsea’s decision to step back from the Donnarumma chase reflects a broader strategy of squad stability and financial discipline, as they focus on reinforcing other areas of the pitch.
For now, Donnarumma’s future remains unresolved—but it won’t be in West London.
