Barcelona have reignited their interest in AS Monaco’s Brazilian right-back Vanderson as they look to bolster their defensive line before the transfer window closes. The 24-year-old, valued at around €25m-€35m, has been on the radar of sporting director Deco since 2022, with manager Hansi Flick also approving the potential move due to Vanderson’s attacking flair, speed, and defensive solidity.
Despite competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, Vanderson is reportedly enthusiastic about joining the Catalan giants, drawing comparisons to former Barça legend Dani Alves.
However, Barcelona’s financial constraints and LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play regulations mean the deal hinges on player sales, with names like Fermín López, Marc Casadó, Ronald Araújo, and Andreas Christensen potentially on the move. Monaco, with whom Barça have a good relationship after the loan of Ansu Fati, are holding firm on their valuation, making negotiations complex but not impossible.
