Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has refused to confirm whether André Onana or Altay Bayindir will start in goal against Fulham, despite Onana being declared fit after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Amorim said, “Onana is ready to play like last week, so we will see in the game who is going to be the goalkeeper.” The ambiguity comes after Bayindir’s costly error against Arsenal last weekend, which led to a 1–0 defeat at Old Trafford.
Onana missed the entire preseason and was omitted from the Arsenal matchday squad after just three training sessions. Bayindir, meanwhile, has struggled to convince fans and pundits alike, with his performances under scrutiny since joining United.
The uncertainty has sparked speculation about United’s long-term plans, especially with the club reportedly in talks to sign Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens. Amorim, however, insists he’s happy with his current trio of goalkeepers and is focused on navigating the final days of the transfer window.
With Fulham known for their attacking fluidity and set-piece threat, Amorim’s decision could prove pivotal—not just for Sunday’s result, but for the pecking order between the posts going forward.
