Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has dismissed speculation surrounding Rodrygo’s future after the Brazilian forward was left on the bench in Madrid’s LaLiga opener against Osasuna.
Rodrygo’s absence from the pitch intensified rumors of a potential move to the Premier League, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City reportedly monitoring the situation. But Alonso insists the decision was tactical, not political.
“It was only a match,” Alonso told reporters. “If in three months he still isn’t getting these minutes, then it’s different. But today was just the circumstances of the game and my decisions.”
Rodrygo, once a key figure in Madrid’s attack, now finds himself competing with the high-profile trio of Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Jude Bellingham. Despite the growing interest from England, Real Madrid have received no formal offers and reportedly values Rodrygo at €100 million.
With the transfer window still open, the situation remains fluid—but Alonso’s message is clear: Rodrygo is still part of his plans, for now.
