Man Utd hiring and transfers: Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth on INEOS strategy, Jadon Sancho's departure, and academy

This summer, Manchester United successfully navigated their first transfer window with a football operations team driven by INEOS.

Under the direction of sports director Dan Ashworth, who concentrated solely on hiring during his first two months on the job, the team completed 32 trades.

With assistance from CEO Omar Berrada, technical director Jason Wilcox, temporary director of recruiting Christopher Vivell, and manager Erik ten Hag, the team has put in a lot of effort to close the deal on sales, fill important jobs, and run a long-term business.

Before the board gives its approval, the procedure is supervised by INEOS Sporting Director Sir Dave Brailsford and is directed by the scouting and analytical departments.

Prior to Ashworth's arrival, United signed four players who were targeted for the priority positions of forward, center-back, and defensive midfield. All four of them—Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, and Matthijs de Ligt—were hired.

Although right-back was not thought to be crucial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka's situation—having one year left on his contract and attention from potential suitors—allowed United to bring in 26-year-old Noussair Mazraoui, who can also cover the opposite flank, and shift the dynamic.

The urge for a cultural reset for the team atmosphere was fueled by the character references made by the new arrivals, none of whom have yet reached their ceiling. It was crucial to lock down Bruno Fernandes, and bringing in gifted development possibilities like Sekou Kone has been a clear priority.

In the outgoings, the distinction is most clearly highlighted and bolded. United generated sales of about £87 million, but they have also been strict about buy-back and sell-on provisions.
