Lewis's move in Brazil creates history.

Jamal Lewis, a defender from Northern Ireland, is become the first British player to join with the Brazilian powerhouse Sao Paulo after completing his loan move from Newcastle.

Lewis, 26, of Luton, has failed to get consistent playing time since leaving Newcastle for Norwich in 2020. He spent the previous season on loan at Watford, and he has the option to purchase a year-long stay in Brazil.

Lewis stated, "I told my agent right away that I wanted to come to Brazil when I heard about this opportunity." Being the first British player in the history of the club and playing for such a massive organization as Sao Paulo is an honor.

"I'm thrilled to be playing for a World Cup-winning team. I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by. I'm excited to get to know the supporters and support the group.

Lewis will now depart for Belfast to join Northern Ireland for their Nations League games against Bulgaria and Luxembourg this week.
